Microsoft Integrates OpenAI's GPT-4 into Bing, Revolutionizing Search
Get the Latest and Most Relevant Results with the New Bing Experience
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella today announced a major shift in the company's search strategy, as it integrates OpenAI's GPT-4 model into Bing, providing a ChatGPT-like experience within the search engine. With this integration, Microsoft is hoping to better compete with Google and bring the future of search to its users.
As expected, the new Bing now features a chat option in its toolbar, providing users with a conversational experience. This is a major improvement over OpenAI's ChatGPT, as Bing's version is far more up-to-date and can handle queries related to recent events. In addition, Microsoft is launching a new version of its Edge browser with AI features built into the sidebar.
According to Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi, today's search engines still work well for simple queries, but for complex queries that makeup half of today's searches, modern search engines fall short. The new Bing experience will show GPT-based results in a box on the right side of the search results page and will also provide a ChatGPT-like experience for questions that don't have an exact answer.
Microsoft is using a new version of GPT, called Prometheus, that provides more relevant results, annotates these results, and provides a safer user experience. Currently, there are no ads attached to the ChatGPT function in the new Bing, as Microsoft is willing to forgo some revenue to take market share from Google.
